Like in the definition of the illness “Cancer” can also grow in other places of your life.  Whether in your personal life due to an abusive spouse or toxic relationship, or in the workplace due to harassment, culture differences or a terrible boss. Let’s look at the definition as provided by Google.

1.    the disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body.

"he's got cancer"

o   a malignant growth or tumor resulting from the division of abnormal cells.

plural noun: cancers

"most skin cancers are curable"

malignant growth, cancerous growth, tumor, malignancy; More

o   a practice or phenomenon perceived to be evil or destructive and hard to contain or eradicate.

"racism is a cancer sweeping across Europe"

evil, blight, scourge, poison, canker, plague;

archaic pestilence

"the cancer of slavery spread across the continent"

The key to living a full and productive life after being diagnosed or experiencing Cancer is to have a game plan for treatment.  Most of the time this battle will need to be waged within yourself.  It is not always the fault of the other person but the perception of the situation and your attitude towards how you handle things.  Of course, if in an abusive relationship or in the case of sexual harassment the treatment needs to much more deliberate and immediate and rarely does the blame belong to the victims.  But like any patient you must be willing to take on aggressive and permanent treatment, as well as be prepared for the side effects treatment may cause.
In my life, as I get older and look back at where I have come from, I have learned that every experience I have journeyed has prepared and led me to this moment.  I have fought Cancer both the physical kind, Adenocarcinoma as well as work place Cancer experienced due to cultural differences or personality clashes with peers or terrible bosses.  The trick is Triple A (AAA) Aptitude, Attitude and Altitude.  Understand the situation, decide on how it will affect you, learn from it and adjust and repeat.    Want to hear more - Subscribe below.
